For the fall of 2021, Minuteman Technical Institute is offering the Bio/Medical Lab Technician training program in collaboration with the MassHire Career Centers and Commonwealth Corporation. If you would like to apply, you must do so through one of the following MassHire Career Centers:

The Bio/Medical/Clinical Lab Technician program takes place three nights per week, beginning September 8, 2021, through Minuteman Technical Institute, the adult learning division of Minuteman High School in Lexington. The 200-hour program is held in the biotechnology laboratory at Minuteman, where students prepare for entry-level positions in the biomedical, clinical, or medical lab tech field.
Responsibilities of lab technicians include:- Analysis of body fluids and tissue samples, and recording findings
- Study of blood samples for use in transfusions
- Operation of laboratory equipment, including microscopes and cell counters
- Use of lab equipment and computerized instruments capable of performing multiple tests at one time
- Recording data in medical records
- Discussing testing results in medical personnel

- This training is provided tuition-free for qualified candidates.
- The Bio/Medical/Clinical Lab Tech program is supported by the Massachusetts Career Technical Initiative grant for the fall of 2021.

- 200-Hour Evening Program
- September 8, 2021-December 3, 2021
Classes are held on:
- Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:30 PM-10:00 PM
- Days and times are subject to adjustment.
- Students may be required to participate in online coursework throughout the program.

Through classroom instruction and hands-projects, students who successfully complete the program receive:
- OSHA 10 Safety Certification

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 7% job growth in this field through 2021, faster than the average for all occupations. Clinical laboratory technicians will be in demand to use and maintain the equipment needed for diagnosis and treatment.

Minuteman Technical Institute is offering the Bio/Medical/Clinical Lab Technician program for the fall of 2021 through a collaboration with Commonwealth Corporation, the MassHire Career Centers, and the Governor’s Workforce Skills Cabinet.
MassHire Career Centers will support trainees through the application and eligibility process, provide employment assistance, and 90 days of support following the completion of the program.
