Applicants can reside in both our in-district and out-of-district Massachusetts communities, and out-of-state students are also eligible to apply Minuteman Technical Institute's (MTI) Post-Secondary Programs. The following towns are considered In-District: Acton, Arlington, Bolton, Concord, Dover, Lancaster, Lexington, Needham, and Stow.
Applicants must have graduated from high school, or earned a GED/HiSet attainment, AND must be 18 years of age at the time of acceptance. Transcripts and birth certificates must be provided. Certified translations must be provided for transcripts supplied in a language other than English and equivalency to US education must be provided. An average of C or better in high school is preferred, with consideration for trends demonstrating improvement and motivation. For applicants who have not yet graduated from high school, a letter from the current high school is required, stating that the student is on track to graduate.
Applicants must supply a recommendation letter from an employer, supervisor, colleague, or teacher. These letters can be requested via email from the application Self-Service Center, and letters of recommendation can be uploaded via that portal.
An MTI application must be filled out and submitted to the MTI Office, along with a non-refundable testing/application fee. The LPN program testing/application fee is $80 and all other applicants testing/application fee is $20. All testing/application fees are nonrefundable. Applicants can apply online, download a pdf application HERE, or call the office to have an application mailed to them at 781.861.7151.
Applicants must complete a CORI/SORI check (Criminal Offender Record Information/Sex Offender Record Information). A valid photo ID is required along with the CORI/SORI forms. This will be filled out when the candidate is in the office for the testing or interview.
Once the application is received an appointment will be scheduled through the MTI office to interview with the Admissions Committee.
Applicants will take an entrance test when on-site for the interview.
Once the above steps have been completed, an interview will be scheduled with the Director or designee. Final determination for enrollment is made by the Director based on all components of the application.
All candidates will be notified of the admission decision by mail. Upon acceptance into the program, a signed enrollment agreement and a $500 non-refundable deposit is required within 15 days to hold your space in the program.
A proof of residency letter is required for applicants living in our in-district towns to qualify for in-district tuition rates.
After acceptance into the program, medical records and immunizations are required by the Department of Public Health. Incoming students must submit: proof of immunization, recent physical, emergency and student information forms, medication rules and regulations.
All applicants will be required to take a basic entrance exam prior to admission to MTI. LPN candidates will need to take the TEAS V while all other applicants will take the TABE.
TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) in Reading, Mathematics Computation, and Applied Mathematics.
A 10th-grade proficiency level is preferred. Students may request to retake the test once at no additional fee but will be required to pay the $20 fee for any additional retakes.
TEAS V (Test of Essential Academic Skills) For LPN candidates only. Candidates must meet a minimum adjusted individual score in all three sections as identified below to continue with the selective admissions process. Only TEAS V scores achieved at MTI will be considered for review.
