About the Program

Electrical is a licensed trade that requires technical knowledge and skills and a thorough understanding of the Massachusetts Electrical Code.

Students will learn essential theory through hands-on practical experience in residential and commercial wiring techniques and applications, and industrial controls. Students will learn the following:

  • Residential, commercial, and industrial wiring methods
  • Blueprint reading
  • Operating principles of motors, transformers, and photovoltaic systems
  • Circuitry control

Students who successfully complete MTI’s Electricity program will be prepared for entry into the Electrical skilled trades industry, including apprenticeship. This 700-hour program includes 300 hours of the required 600 hours of classroom theory, and 400 hours of practical experience toward the Journeyman Electrician License.

Career Prospects

As homes and businesses require more wiring, electricians will be needed to install the necessary components. The job prospects for electricians should be very good, as many employers report difficulty finding qualified applicants.

    • Monday and Wednesday from 4:30-10:00 PM
    • Saturday from 7:00 AM-2:00 PM
  • ​Days and times subject to adjustment.
  • 10-Month, 700-Hour Program

In addition to classroom time, students are required to participate in online course work.
